For this sketchbook assignment I would like you to choose three items that have personal significance to you. However, they must have the following shapes: a sphere (tennis ball, apple), a cylinder (cup, pencil, soda can), and a cube (cereal box, jewlery box). Direct a single light source on the arrangement and do a pencil drawing using value to show form. Be sure to overlap the objects for an interesting arrangement. Include all shadows and highlights, a background, and use the whole page. Remember to use the compositional techniques that we have learned in class: zoom-in, change the point of view, go off the page. Take your time and remember your parallel lines for the cube!
On the back, I want you to tell me what the items mean to you and why you chose them for your still life.
For a challenge, include more than three items or use charcoal instead of pencil to do the drawing.
20 points. Due: November 21.
