Hello! I am Ms. Williams.
This is my second year at Reservoir High School. I love being a part of this amazing art department. I will be teaching Art I and Art II this year.
To introduce myself, I will begin by saying that I am a native of Clarksville, MD and a graduate of Glenelg High School. However, I spent many years away from home. I was an art major at Smith College in Northampton, MA. Then I moved to Mali, West Africa with the Peace Corps. I ended up staying in Africa for almost 10 years! I lived in Mali, Togo, Burkina Faso, and Senegal. I taught art for three years at the International School of Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso. It was a fabulous experience because I taught all ages -- K-12th grade! I also spent a year in Pristina, Kosovo teaching art to elementary school children. I am married and have two children, Sabry, who is 6 and is in First Grade, and Kaya, who will start pre-school this year! We are now living on my family's farm and raise sheep. Check out our sheep website!
I am also a practicing artist and I must say my travels have been a huge inspiration to me over the years. I paint using watercolor and oil pastels. I also occasionally work with oils. I am inspired by people and nature. Below you can see a slideshow of my work:
