Let's make some art this year!

Welcome back!  I am very excited to be teaching Art II this year.  We are going to be exploring in depth more materials and ways to use them.  There are a couple of ways that Art II is different than Art I.  Firstly, we will be using easels when creating our work.  That changes the dynamics of the classroom.  You will be encouraged to walk around, look at one another's work, and step back from your own work.  Secondly, a major difference between Art II and Art I is homework.  There is a lot more homework in Art II.  The homework assignments will not be small sketchbook assignments as in Art I.  In Art II, the homework will be full scale artwork.  You will be expected to spend a lot of time on your homework assignments.  Lastly, there are two groups of students taking Art II:  Regular and GT.  The GT student will have slightly different requirements than the regular students for each assignment. 

There are a few things I need for you to do in the first week of school. 
1) Have you and your parents sign the syllabus and turn it in to me.
2) Although I cannot require you to buy a sketchbook, it is HIGHLY recommended.  Please try and get one by September 6.
3)  I want to make sure that you have located this website.  Please post a comment to this post and give me the following information by September 6:
  • Tell me your name.
  • Tell me something unique about yourself.  I want to know something that I won't forget about you!
  • Tell me why you decided to sign up for Art II
  • Tell me what is your favorite way of making art
It is important to communicate with me and your fellow classmates.  Please feel free to post comments/questions at anytime regarding any post. 

Visual Journal assignments will be continued as well.  I will be going over Visual Journals during class sometime in the beginning wePlease find below the master sheet for visual journals:

Hi! I am really unique because I have lived in 4 different African countries and I speak Bambara (a language spoken in Mali, West Africa). I am excited to teach Art II this year because I want to discover all of your talents over the course of an entire year. My favorite way of making art is by mixing watercolor and oil pastel. I am Alexandria Miyasato, or better yet, just Alex. I am unique because I take interest in custom toy making, I don't actualy do it yet..... but I do want to. I am taking Art II because I am quite passionate of art, and I feel that even though I already know a lot, I can still learn more. And my favorite way of making art is by watercolor and/or with markers and colored pencils.

I love to read and swim. I decided to sign up for art two because I wanted to be around people that had the same interests as me. My favorite way of making art is using clay.

I am unique because i come from australia/ZAF. I think that i can bring much culture to our art class. I love the water and want to pursue schools for marine science. Art is a great way to express real studies. I also wanted to be in a class surrounding with others with the same interests as myself, good atmosphere. Canvas, clay and odd materials are best for me.

You wont forget my outgoing bubbly personality or my ability to make everyday situations awkward. I signed up for Art 2 GT because I am interested in majoring in graphic design. My name is Brooke Reinholtz. I am very spazzy and I love to sing, act, and draw. Something you wont forget is that I always "dress to impress" and I am extremely afraid of clowns and dogs. I am taking Art 2 because I wasn't able to take a art class last year even though I REALLY wanted to. My favorite way to make art is with charcoal and oil pastels.

Hey I'm Alexandra Gonzalez and something interesting about me is that my parents and family is Puerto Rican. Many people don't realize that from looking at me but of course my last name says it all. I decided to sign up for Art 2 because I believe that everything in life is art. Everything can be interpreted and portrayed differently. I feel like sometimes you can tell a lot about someone by the art they make. The colors, techniques, boldness, shadow, composition, and materials can show emotions. I wanted to discover and express myself through art. My favorite way of making art is using shadows with pencils and charcoal.

My name is Jade Reinholtz, an interesting fact about me is that I read books so fast that I tend to read one a day two if the book is good. I decided to continue art into art II because it is something that has allways interested me.It has allways been fun and relaxing to draw. My brother was so good at art that he went to college for it. My favorite art material to use is chalk pastels and water colors. Chalk pastels because they smudge into each other to make cool combinations, and watercolors because you can vary how they are with water.

Howdy, my name is David Henry and something most people dont know about me is that i want to become a Culinary Chef. Cooking is my favorite hobby, but i really enjoy Art as well. What i really like about art is the many different ways you can express yourself in your artwork. My favorite form of art is clay molding and sculpturing. its a very technical form of art which is how i prefer to create art work.

I decided to continue in art classes to learn other techniques and materials used to make/create art besides pencil [which is my alltime favorite]. My favorite form of art it pencil [as said] or watercolors and oilpastels.

Hey Mrs. Williams, I'm Ann(ie) and I think what probably makes me unique would be my dedication in the things I love to do, like art and literature, and how I try at almost everything, even though things usually don't go as I plan! My most favorable way to make art is through sketching and inking, with occasional use of color pencils - but I hope I'll prefer to use more media in your class this year!

Hi Mrs. Williams, I am Marcos. I am unique because I am a blackbelt in karate (real karate not fake karate, yes theres a difference). I am taking art 2 because i really enjoy art and some of the things that i can draw/ paint. I am not quite sure what my favorite way of making art is but probably a combination of water colors, paint and oil pastels.

Hi Mrs. Williams, my name is shanice morgan. something unque about is that i was born and raised in the carribean island of jamaica. my entire family is jamaican and syrian. i am taking art two because i want to be a fashion designer and i want to learn who to be able to draw really well for when i need to sketch designs. my favorite way of making art is pencil,i think its simple and i love the simplicity of black and white.

I am Sunnita Mehnng. I am from Bangladesh. I can speak Hindi, Bangle and English. :)

last year i took Art 1. I really enjoyed that class and i really liked Miss. Moon. She is the excellent teacher. So after that i was so excited about art class. That's why i took art class.

I hope i will enjoy your class like last year. I saw your art.l those are really really beautiful. Every single picture look real. I hope i will draw pictures like you.;)...

Specially i like to do sketch and i am good at sketch. My favorite color is black and gray. So i hope i will do lot of sketch in your class.

Hey I'm Tina Howard. I don't know if this is very unique , but I design t-shirts and designs for clothing and accessories, and go to anime conventions. I signed up for art 2 GT because I want to improve on my art skills and develop a more unique style and work on more realism. My favorite way of making art is split between using a digital editor or using markers, like the expensive kind.

I signed up for art 2 GT because I really like art and want to minor in it in college. I dont have a favorite way of making art because i like to experiment with differnt medias.

Hi my name is Delaney Fox. Something unique about me is that I am extremely musically challenged, however I love music, I found out that the easiest instrument to learn how to play is the ukulele. So, this summer I bought a ukulele and hope to learn how to play it this year. I signed up for art 2 gt because I have been making art since I was a little one, and it is one of my favorite things that I hope to continue with for the rest of my life. I do not have a favorite way of making art yet because I like so many different kinds of art. Hopefully this year I will come to find my favorite.

Hi, my name is Jaelene Taylor. Something unique about me is that I have my own way of drawing. I like to doodle and make little cartoon characters. I even made comics when I was younger. I decided to sign up for Art 2 GT because I wanted to get better at art and learn new ways of drawing that I would have never thought of. My favorite way of making art is using paint and watercolors. It's more fun for me to paint and mix different colors together to make something new.

I am unique because I draw manga-style art. I have been drawing like that since elementary to today. I decided to take art 2 to have a realistic art instead of cartoony-looking drawings. My favorite way of making art is with paper, pencil, and fingers(for shading).

I am Jasmine Pickens. Something unique about me is that I play basketball and have college looks for basketball. I decided to sign up for art 2 because in your class last year I realized that I was pretty good at it, and you recommended me to take art 2, so I did. My favorite way of making art is water color paint and collages.

Im kim:) something unique about my self is I love animals and every puppy I see ihave to playwith. i decided to sign up for art 2gt because i love art and one day i hope to be some form of art teacher or a kindergarden teacher. my faviorte way of making art is a tie between oil pastels and charcoal.ilove the teaxtures and values you can get using these materials :)

Hi, I'm Hunter Bailey. Something unique about me would be my talent with origami. I would always be making little creations with paper or whatever flat material would be laying around. I decided to continue on with art 2 gt because i want to improve my knowledge and use of art for the future. My favorite way of making art is by watercolor, because of the way it easily blends to make smooth transitions from one color to another.

I signed up for art II because art interests me, I cant stand the rest of the acedemic enterprise, and it will give me something to do for school/college until I turn 21 or get out of the house. I enjoy filming/editing, otherwise pencils whatsup.

Hi im Eric, im unique because i really enjoy graphic design and making movies. I wanted to continue to art 2 gt because i really enjoy the atmosphere in the class and like having a stress break during the day, also i like to draw! Something unique about me is that I enjoy writing poetry, and I was born in Liberia (west africa). I decided to take art 2 because Art Class last year was the only subject I would consecutively be excited for. My favorite way of making art is clay. I love working with my hands; this includes wire and other sculpture building.

Something unique about me is that i want to be a vet, im 6 different nationalities, and i have 7 brothers and no sisters. I decided to take art 2 because art is something that i really love and its fun. M y favorite way of making art is drawing and i like painting things that really have no shape but are just a bunch of colors and textures...like the ocean and stuff like that

Something Unique about me is that I love photography and sculpting. The reason for signing up for Art II is for more experience in the art field. I really dont have a favorite way of art but if I had to chose it would be charcoal.

Hiiiiiiii Mrs.Williams, my name is Bryana! I am unique because I'm a real life Barbie doll and not many people can say that. I'm also intelligent and most people can't guess that. I signed up for Art II Gt because making art relaxes me so I'm using this class as an escape. I also feel art is something I'm relatively good at. My favorite way of making art is to draw and then whatever comes next.

Something interesting about me is that most people don't know is that I like to cook. In the future, when I am a more experienced cook, I hope to open my own resturant. The theme will most likely be barbeque/ grilling. Another thing about me is that I was on the JV baseball team last and I hope to make it again this year.

Hey! Something about myself is that I come from a ginormous family, I have 6brothers and sisters, and we move around the country all of the time. My fovite place I have lived so far was Oregon. I decided to sign up for Art II because I loved Art class last year at my old school in Baton Rouge, and I wanted to extend my skill in Art. I would also love to have more ideas for photography. I love to draw in just black and white pencil, but I also enjoy painting, even though I don't have the patience to be so precise. I also LOVE making wire sculptures, I made a ballerina last year, and enjoyed all of the hands on and twisting, and I loved thee outcome. I'm looking forward to an amazing year in art! :)
